Why I built SpeakNow™

My name is Ben Witopil. I'm a secondary school teacher, mentor and language coach.

And I moved from Germany to South America

to help build an English-speaking educational project.

I was an expat with zero Spanish, and I had to learn the language on the side.

But speaking did not come naturally, and nothing I tried really solved it.

That pressure pushed me to ask a deeper question:

How are we made to learn language?

I went back to the basics, thank God I got this idea about imitation.

I first looked at the scientific side: how do we learn language naturally?

I checked it with neurologists and built the method around how the brain learns best.

But the real challenge was application:

how do you make it work in real life, without school,

without wasting money on apps and materials,

and without adding more burden to an already busy life?

It needed to work for me while I had a project going,

a lot of work and family with a couple of kids.

The test

So, I tested it on myself and... it worked!
